Description | Position Summary:
The Technology Substitute performs under the supervision of the Educational Technology Director. The Technology Substitute functions in accordance with established policies, rules and regulations and the performance standards of the district.
Duties & Responsibilities may include:
Technician I Duties:
- Assist computer users in the general use of a variety of software and hardware packages both MAC and PC based;
- Assist management, technical staff and users in evaluating systems capabilities and maintenance requirements;
- Diagnose problems by using basic diagnostic software and utility tools and by troubleshooting through a process of elimination in determining where a problem is occurring;
- Instruct users in program operation and use of appropriate documentation; write user documentation of common problems and resolutions to assist users in solving problems;
- Assist in running, maintaining and documenting programs needed by others;
- Draft source document formats and operation procedures for users; instruct user personnel in system operating procedures and requirements;
- Maintain inventories of computer equipment and network diagrams;
- Install, maintain and configure stand-alone printers, copiers and network printers;
- Adjust to new assignments and variety of working condition, including effective task prioritization and independent task completion;
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with staff, co-workers and other users regarding computer technology;
- May assist faculty with teaching aids, materials and equipment associated with classroom instruction;
Technicinan II Duties:
- Be able to perform the core and essential duties of a Computer Support Technician I.
- Coordinate repair scheduling, service requests, records maintenance, service contracts, user accounts, security, and workstation configurations; establish procedures for monitoring and prioritizing system usage;
- Use diagnostic tools and troubleshooting processes to determine if problems are due to equipment, network or application errors; refer complex problems to hardware maintenance, software support or vendor support services;
- Assist users in the use of a variety of hardware devices and software packages; troubleshoot and resolve problems such as board swapping and revising configuration settings to allow hardware and software operability;
- Install and configure newly acquired PC's, LAN workstations and various software packages;
- Maintain records on hardware and software configurations, network performance and configurations;
- Write, maintain and update user’s manuals, system support manuals and other types of documentation;
- Establish requirements for multiple systems interfacing and transferring of files; coordinate implementation of requirements with management, technical staff and users;
- May train users on specific packaged software applications;
- May write batch programs or operating system command procedures;
- May assist faculty with teaching aids, materials and equipment associated with classroom instruction;
- May install and configure small local area networks;
- May perform research and provide information to management regarding new technology and equipment;
- Maintain district inventory of all computing equipment purchased.
- Ability to image, install, configure and maintain desktop and server systems including peripherals using enterprise system management tools.
- May direct the work of others;
- Must be able to pass a background check and be able to work with minors.
- Must be committed to on-going training for the maintenance/advancement of technical skills desired/expected.
- Adjust to new assignments and variety of working conditions, including effective task prioritization and independent task completion.
- Oversee operations of VOIP/Telephony installation, configuration and administration as assigned.
- Escalate higher level support issues to the Computer Support III or Computer Maintenance technician 4.
- Be familiar with and abide by Federal and Washington laws, Board of Education policies, district regulations and school procedures that relate to employment with the CERSD.
Technician III Duties:
- Evaluate computer hardware and software applications for the purpose of making repairs, providing technical support, diagnosing malfunctions and/or recommending acquisitions
- Analyze, test, repair and/or recommend repairs on all technical equipment
- Prepare documentation (e.g. instructions, memos, reports, etc) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information
- Create software installation packages to deploy to staff as required for instruction or system uses
- Assist Technology Director and/or Ed Tech Director in maintaining of the District WAN
- Maintain and repair computers for the purpose of ensuring the availability of safe and operational equipment
- Record work done through the district work ticketing process
- Administer and monitor the network for school sites including troubleshooting, loading and updating software, monitoring passwords, scheduling maintenance, and completing work orders using the district ticketing system
- Administer and monitor Google Admin maintenance and support for school year and summer activities
- Configure network devices/server to work with existing district technology
- Coordinate computer and peripheral machine operations i a lab and/or for other areas across the campus
- Support and education to computer/technology users in a variety of applications; assist in resolving issues
- Schedule repairs, monitor service request, maintain records
Typical Work:
- Maintain back-up, restoration, and disaster recovery as defined in District plans and procedures
- Attend District and building technology meetings to keep abreast of programs and procedures
- Attend District sponsored professional development workshops and classes designed to increase individual skills and ability
- Consistently interact with people in a courteous and professional manner
- Perform other duties as assigned which many include Tech II related work
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
General Information:
- Pay Period: As a substitute, you will be paid one month after you have worked. (i.e. work completed in September will be paid via direct deposit to your account on the last working day of October) Time sheets due in the office by the 5th of each month.
Benefits:
- One hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked.
