THIS IS A CONTINUING POSITION FOR THE 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR.

 

Note: The first review of applications will be December 1st. The position is open until filled. 

 

SUMMARY

The High School Principal will be responsible to perform his/her duties including supervising the conduct of students, school personnel, and community members, assisting with student behavior and discipline issues, overseeing programs as assigned by the Superintendent.

 

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Possess a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate
  • Possess or be eligible for Washington State Principal Certificate

DESIRED SKILL AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three years demonstrated successful K-12 administrative experience.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in assessing & improving student learning.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Three years minimum successful teaching experience.
  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
  • Valid state certification as a Principal or School Administrator.
  • Ability to problem-solve and facilitate a process toward solutions.
  • Knowledge of PBIS, SEL and/or other related school culture programs.
  • Ability to remain flexible in assignment or situations.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and interact successfully with all school district staff and students.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters in an ethical manner.
  • Successful experience in working with students as all grade levels.
  • Skill and understanding of the use of the Skyward Student Information System.
  • Ability to use sound judgment, work well under pressure and attention to detail.
  • Experience working with a diverse student population.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with special education, 504, ELL.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of technology as a tool for learning and data collection.
  • Effective and experienced background in behavior management systems and strategies.
  • Ability to work with a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Support and communicate district philosophy.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive school environment.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

  • Provide visionary leadership to promote a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement school policies, programs, and procedures in alignment with district, state, and federal regulations.
  • Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment for students, staff, and parents.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of all students.
  • Promote the use of data-driven decision-making to improve instructional practices and student outcomes.
  • Support and supervise teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies and professional development.
  • Monitor student performance data and implement strategies to ensure all students achieve academic success.
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures to promote positive student behavior and attendance.
  • Collaborate with staff to provide academic, emotional, and social support to students.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to support professional growth.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment for all staff.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, community members, and local organizations.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to promote the school’s vision and goals.
  • Encourage parental involvement and participation in school activities and decision-making processes.
  • Further the district's work in maintaining a robust multi-tiered system of support.
  • Cultivate a positive and inclusive school culture that values diversity, equity, and respect.
  • Promote a safe and supportive learning environment where all students feel valued and encouraged to succeed.
  • Foster strong relationships among students, staff, and parents to create a sense of community and shared responsibility.
  • Establish rigorous academic standards aligned with state and national benchmarks.
  • Monitor and evaluate curriculum implementation to ensure it supports high academic achievement.
  • Provide academic support and enrichment opportunities for students to reach their full potential.
  • Implement initiatives to foster a sense of belonging and ownership among students and staff.
  • Celebrate diversity and promote cultural competence through multicultural events and activities.
  • Address barriers to inclusion and equity, ensuring every member of the school community feels respected and valued.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/BENEFITS

  • Contract: 215 days
  • Sick/Personal Leave: 12 days per year of sick leave and 3 days of personal leave
  • Retirement: Two plan choices available with DRS, Plan 2 and Plan 3.
  • District will pay for full professional member dues up to one state principal association or WASA.
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance through SEBB*

*Benefits through SEBB is determined by the number of hours an employee is anticipated to work during the school year. Any employee who is scheduled to work 630 hours or more in a school year (September 1 through August 31) is eligible for benefits.
