 THESE ARE CONTINUING POSITIONS FOR THE 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR.

 

NOTE:  These positions are open to qualified CERSD employees from April 25 - May 1st, 2024.  Applications received from out of district candidates will not be considered until May 2nd.  Interviews or scheduling of interviews for selected applicants may begin the week of May 20th.  This posting is for up to 9 positions and will be open until filled. Please see the types of paraeducator positions we plan to fill below.

 

REPORTS TO:   Building Administrator / Program Director

 

Positions we plan to fill are

  • Transitional Kindergarten
  • High Needs
  • Elementary
  • Secondary 

 

MINIMUM EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • 18 years of age or older  AND
  • High School Diploma or equivalent  AND
  • One of the following:  AA degree from accredited college or university;  72 quarter or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher at accredited college or university;  passing score on paraeducator assessment test;  OR completed apprenticeship as a paraeducator in an approved and registered program    (requirements per Title I Section 1119(g))

Areas of Responsibility May Include:

  • Assisting with planning and carrying out individual student learning objectives
  • Assisting students in the subjects of reading, writing, math or social as directed
  • Assisting with maintaining necessary paperwork associated with timelines, and      instructional progression and with preparation of materials 
  • Supervision duties as assigned within or outside the school building, which may include recess and/or lunch supervision
  • Assisting with parent communication.
  • Using office equipment (copier, computer, etc.) as needed to assist in meeting classroom/instructional needs
  • Provide job coaching for students
  • Assisting with self-help skills and life skills
  • Assisting in the office with filing, phones and/or other student/building related office work

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Two years of study at institution of higher education, OR Associate Degree (or higher) , OR a formal assessment option as listed for para educators in 
  • Successful experience working with children
  • Current CPR – First Aide card preferred
  • Clerical/computer skills preferred
  • Ability to work cooperatively and courteously
  • Typical para educator duties require staff to lift up to 75 lbs, stand and move about frequently and to operate various types of machines and equipment used in classrooms and school buildings.

 

In addition to the basic para educator duties listed above, staff assigned to or hired as a para educator assisting special needs students may include, but are not limited to some of the following duties and responsibilities.

 

  • Assisting with wheelchair bound students as needed
  • Assisting students with physical needs such as placing on toilet, changing diaper, washing, etc.
  • Assisting with planning and carrying out of IEP’s
  • Assisting with administering medication and catheterization, under the direction of the school nurse (training provided)
  • Observing and work with the therapist in carrying out a planned program of therapy
  • Assisting with any other special education program related tasks assigned by the Program Director, Building Administrator, teacher or school healthcare staff.

 

Terms of Employment/Benefits:

  • Affiliation: PSE Classified Union
  • Days: 6.5 hours a day, 5 days a week
  • Hourly rate enhancement: credit for college degrees or certifications per PSE contract. Wage is based of of 23-24  school year hourly wage. Once wage is approved for 24-25 school year, it will be updated. Max hourly wage is with 25 years of experience and the $1.50 high needs stipend. 
  • Contract: 193 Day classified contracted calendar
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance through SEBB*
  • Sick/Personal Days: up to 12 sick days per school year and up to 3 personal days per year.
  • Retirement: Two plan choice available with DRS, Plan 2 and 3.
  • Holidays:  Up to 11 holidays per year.
  • A post offer physical is required by our ESD105 Workers Co-Op.

 

Start Date:

  • August 28th, 2024. Any training prior to this will be timesheeted.

*Benefits through SEBB is determined by the number of hours an employee is anticipated to work during the school year. Any employee who is scheduled to work 630 hours or more in a school year (September 1 through August 31) is eligible for benefits.
