 THIS IS A CONTINUING POSITION FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR. 

 

NOTE:

This position is open to qualified Cle Elum-Roslyn School District employees April 16 - 23, 2024 . Applications received from out of district applicants will not be considered until April 24th. Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Elementary Physical Education/Outdoor Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in promoting student independence, incorporating hands-on learning experiences, fostering the development of lifelong skills, and instilling joy and enthusiasm for physical activity and outdoor exploration. 

 

Reports To: Elementary Principal 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • BA degree and possess a Washington State Teaching Certificate with correct endorsements.
  • Documented current successful and effective elementary teaching, substitute teaching and/or student teaching experience.
  • Technical and working knowledge of Washington State learning standards.
  • Ability to integrate technology in meaningful ways consistently in the classroom

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Valid teaching certification with a K-12 Fitness Health Endorsement.
  • Experience teaching physical education and/or outdoor education to elementary students.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create a positive and joy-filled learning environment.
  • Enthusiasm for promoting healthy lifestyles, teamwork, and lifelong physical fitness.
  • Verifiable successful experience working with and/or teaming with other adults/teachers.
  • Multiple endorsements that allow the individual to teach multiple and different courses.
  • Understanding of or experience with character education programs, PBIS, SEL or other similar culture building programs.
  • Prior experience or familiar with MTSS & RTI.

Essential Job Related Activities:

 

  • Empower students to take ownership of their health and fitness by providing opportunities for self-directed learning and goal-setting
  • Foster independence in decision-making and problem-solving within physical education and outdoor education contexts
  • Design and implement engaging, hands-on activities that promote physical fitness, skill development, and outdoor exploration
  • Provide health education lessons aligned with state standards
  • Create a supportive environment where students feel motivated and inspired to participate in physical activities and outdoor adventures
  • Identify the learning needs of individual students
  • Establish learning objectives and outcomes consistent with individual pupil’s learning needs and the Washington State grade level learning standards
  • Assess student progress in physical education, health education, and outdoor education using a variety of assessment methods
  • Integrate technology into the curriculum
  • Differentiate instruction for a wide variety of student learning
  • Assess pupils’ achievement and use that assessment data to inform instruction
  • Maintain accurate records of student information and assessment data with the ability to access the information readily as needed or as requested
  • Maintain effective communication with staff and families
  • Provide a climate conducive to student learning
  • Develop and maintain clear standards for student conduct with appropriate disciplinary plans
  • Remain pedagogically current through continuing professional development
  • Communicate effectively using district supported print and electronic media and related applications
  • Subscribe to the professional code of ethics for educators
  • Maintain an understanding of Affirmative Action, Title IX, and handicapped regulations
  • Possess and practice strong interpersonal skills with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organization (staff, parents, community members, other agencies)
  • Be a positive professional team member who works in a collaborative manner
  • Meet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality work
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of student information; know and abide by FERPA rules-
  • Communicate clearly; orally and in writing
  • Regularly demonstrate professionalism in appearance, actions, decisions, and overall performance
  • Work with minimal supervision and be flexible
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and promotes respect for all students
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of students with varying abilities, learning styles, and backgrounds, integrating UDL principles into lesson planning

Terms of Employment/Benefits:

 

  • Affiliation: CEREA
  • Contract: 180 CEREA Contract with a 4 day supplemental contract
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance through SEBB*
  • Sick/Personal Days: up to 12 sick days per school year and up to 3 personal days per year.
  • Retirement: Two plan choices available with DRS, Plan 2 and Plan 3.
  • Salary: Depending on verified years of experience, clock hours, and education. Range is shown below.

*Benefits through SEBB is determined by the number of hours an employee is anticipated to work during the school year. Any employee who is scheduled to work 630 hours or more in a school year (September 1 through August 31) is eligible for benefits.
